Technical Requirements
Computer Access
You need stable and consistent access to a computer and the internet to successfully complete this course. The LCC Pearl City campus has a number of computer labs available for your use.
Optional Hawaiian Fonts
You have the option to enable or install Hawaiian fonts on your computer. No points will be deducted if you choose not to use Hawaiian diacriticals.
MAC USERS
Hawaiian fonts are already installed. To enable the Hawaiian keyboard in OS X:
A flag should appear in the upper right corner of your desktop, you can click here to change keyboards from Hawaiian to English and vice versa.
PC USERS

MAC USERS
Hawaiian fonts are already installed. To enable the Hawaiian keyboard in OS X:
- Go to "System Preferences," choose the "International" panel, and select the "Input Menu" tab.
- Find the keyboard layout "Hawaiian," and click on the small blue check box to its left.
- Close "System Preferences" and you will see a new keyboard menu on the menu bar near the system clock. Choose the "Hawaiian" keyboard that is shown (do not choose the Papa Pihi "HI" if you see it there).
- Select a program that supports Unicode, such as Word 2004 or TextEdit.
- Choose one of the fonts that supports the Hawaiian characters, such as Helvetica, Lucida Grande, or Times.
- To type the lower case vowels with kahakō (ā, ē, ī, ō, ū), press and hold the option key and then type the vowel. To type the upper case vowels with kahakō press the Shift key as well. ʻOkina can be added by using the apostrophe key.

PC USERS

- Go to Kualono
- Click on the ʻEnehana ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi--Support Resources link
- Select the appropriate resource and follow the instructions.
